My Unbiased Review Of An At-Home Hormone Testing Kit For Women

A couple of months ago, I went to the doctor for a hormone test to check my thyroid and other hormone levels. I was feeling a bit off, but once I got to the doctor’s office, the doctor brushed aside most of my concerns, left the room after five minutes, and ordered a simple blood test that didn’t even check the hormone levels that I had requested be tested, and I was left without any answers. So instead, I started researching at-home hormone tests.
I landed on Feminade, which had a hormone test for women that promised an easy, accurate test result plus a follow-up with a naturopathic doctor. I was a little hesitant at first, but now that I’ve gone through the process, I have a few things I loved and a few things I disliked.
But, to keep things simple…Do I think online hormone testing kits are worth the price for women? Yes, I do. And I’ll tell you why below.
What is an at home hormone testing kit?
At home hormone testing kits for women are designed to test your different hormone levels. Some are done by blood, others are done by saliva, but the test I took by Feminade was done using a dried urine test. For hormone testing at home, you’ll do the test, send your results off to a lab, and then you’ll receive an email detailing your results.
Are at home hormone testing kits accurate?
As long as the test is done correctly, hormone testing kits done at home are just as accurate as they are at the doctor’s office. I’ve read that some tests are hard to administer at home (especially blood tests), but the test I took was easy to figure out since it was a urine test.
What hormones do at home hormone testing kits test?
Hormone test kits for women will test their estrogen levels and often your thyroid levels as well. With the Feminade test, the hormones it checked were:
- Estrogens
- Progesterone
- Androgens
- Glucocorticoids
- Thyroid levels
- Organic Acids
- Mineralocorticoids
